After interviewing several servers and restaurant-goers, creating personas, and developing a comprehensive customer journey map, we found that a key issue in the server experience is being able to handle all types of customer requests, remember them, and execute them effectively.
EasyRequest is an app designed for both servers and customers. On the customer side, they can input requests of all types and get updates from their server. On the server side, they can view incoming requests, manage them, and use augmented reality to see a live view of all the server’s tables and their requests.

Watch this video explaining our solution:
To get an idea of some issues servers face, we conducted primary research and reached out to some servers and waiters at restaurants. We conducted 3 user interviews where we asked them about the problems they face during their jobs, what their day-to-day looks like, and if there are any major pain points they’re dealing with. We also wanted to hear from customers, so we created a survey for them to fill out about pain points when they visit a restaurant, specifically regarding communication with servers. We had ~60 responses. We used the insights from this research to empathize and move into the next step of our process.
Based on the results of our interviews and survey, we created a customer profile depicting a server named Jordan.
